The audio-lingual method is one of the styles of teaching. It is used to teach foreign languages by listening and speaking, before reading and writing. This learning process happens in a short period of time. It is based on behaviorist theory which says that certain traits of living things could be trained through a system of reinforcement. The correct use of a trait would receive positive feedback while incorrect if that trait would receive negative feedback. The communicative language teaching (CLT or communicative approach) is a teaching method based on the idea that learning language successfully comes through having to communicate a real meaning. When learners are involved in real communication, their natural strategies for language acquisition will be used, and this will allow them to learn to use the language.
